Kelly Meigs Announces Candidacy for State Representative
Republican to Run in District 17
Lenexa, KS – Kelly Meigs, Republican of Lenexa, announced today that she is running for State Representative in House District 17 of Kansas.
Meigs, an educator, wife, mother and concerned citizen, is a lifelong resident of the Lenexa/Shawnee area. She is running because of her alarm regarding the recent direction of Kansas government.
“As I began to watch issues at the state level, it soon became clear to me that some of the same issues that plagued our government at the national level like fiscal responsibility, limited and efficient government and accountability, plagued our government at the state level as well. As Kansans, we can do better than this. We need to encourage consumers and businesses to do business in Kansas not discourage it. This includes a return to free market principles and lowering the tax burden,” said Meigs.
In recommending Meigs to the voters, Pastor Steve Dighton of Lenexa Baptist said, “It is my privilege to recommend to you Kelly Meigs for State Representative. I have been Kelly's pastor for the past 10 years and over this past decade, she has proven to be a woman of principle. She is driven by moral convictions, love for God, love for her family, and her love for her country. She has good discernment and I trust her judgment in all things.”
District 17 is approximately equally divided between northern Lenexa and southern Shawnee. The Republican primary is August 3. Her website is www.kellymeigs.com.
